Horizontal Pneumatic Sanitary Butterfly Valve

Manufactured from 316L stainless steel as the standard body and disc material, the Horizontal Pneumatic Sanitary Butterfly Valve is available with EPDM, PTFE or FKM sealing options. Customers can also select different pneumatic actuator types, position indicators, mounting brackets and sanitary connections to match their equipment and piping requirements.

How the Valve Works

The operating principle combines a quarter-turn butterfly valve with pneumatic actuation.

Operating Sequence

Compressed Air → Pneumatic Actuator → Valve Stem → Disc Rotation → Flow Control

When compressed air enters the actuator, the actuator generates rotational movement that turns the butterfly disc.

Open Position

The disc rotates approximately in line with the pipeline, allowing fluid to pass through the valve.

Closed Position

The disc rotates across the flow path, shutting off the pipeline.

Automated Operation

The pneumatic actuator can receive signals from the plant's control system, enabling automatic opening and closing according to the process sequence.

This makes the valve suitable for applications where operators need repeatable valve operation without manually accessing every valve in the piping system.

Fail-Safe Options

Depending on the selected actuator:

· Double-Acting: Air operates both opening and closing.

· Normally Closed (NC): Spring force returns the valve toward the closed position when air is removed.

· Normally Open (NO): Spring force returns the valve toward the open position when air is removed.

The correct configuration depends on the process control strategy and required failure position.
